What is The Precinct?
The Precinct is an open-world police game that combines adventure elements, intense action, and simulation in a hybrid. The player takes on the role of a young police officer immersed in an old-school 1980s atmosphere, whose mission is to maintain order in a crime-ridden city.
The game is distinguished not only by its nostalgic visuals, but also by a strong atmosphere that absolutely makes you feel like you are inside a VHS detective blockbuster.
The Precinct – Story
You are Officer Nick Cordell, a rookie cop newly assigned to the city of Averno. The city is riddled with gangs, corruption, and criminal infighting. Nick’s goal is not only to maintain order, but also to investigate the mystery of the death of his father – a father who was also a police officer, and the cause of his death is still unknown.
The story gradually unfolds in deep and tense detail, actively developing the player as a detective, not just an action hero.
The Precinct – Gameplay
The gameplay of The Precinct is divided into two main directions:
Open-world patrol – you can freely move around the streets of the city, answering 911 calls, stopping suspects, investigating crimes, and engaging in dramatic foot or car chases.
Story missions – the player is given a main mission line to complete, which gradually reveals the dark history of the city.

A special feature of the gameplay is that the action is carried out both on foot and in a police car, which makes the car chase scenes quite dynamic and cinematic.
Engine and Visual Style
The game was created on the Unity engine, which does not mean simple graphics – on the contrary, the visuals are skillfully designed and try to fit into the style of 80s police thrillers.
The graphics are not hyper-realistic, but in a stylized form they accurately convey the atmosphere: neon lights, rainy nights and a city saturated with VHS effects.
The Precinct – Game Modes
The Precinct is a single-player game only. However, even in this mode, it offers variety:
- Story Mode – main mission and storyline
- Free Patrol – free movement in an open world
- Dynamic Calls System – random police calls that constantly change the setting and offer new challenges

Finally
The Precinct is a gem of the indie genre, offering a unique experience for those who think that police simulation is only exclusive to GTA or L.A. Noire.
This game is much more than a simple shooter or indie. It is a bridge to a time and space when VHS and cop movies were king.
If you love open-world story games, neon-lit cities, and detective intrigue — The Precinct is definitely a great choice.
