Yes, my friends, the Mafia series is back! And this time we are dealing not only with a new part, but also with a prequel to the series, which will be released under the name Mafia: The Old Country. Already full of great expectations, fans have been eagerly waiting for new information, and today their patience has been rewarded – new screenshots, details of the environment and small details have been revealed.
Mafia Series – Brief History
Who does not know Mafia? First released in 2002, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven – with a deep plot, impressive atmosphere and a realistic world that took us back to the American underground in the 1930s.
Then there was Mafia II (2010) – an epic story set against the backdrop of the beloved hero Vito Scaletta, hard times, post-war America and classic rock.
In 2016, we got Mafia III, which took us back to 1960s South America and touched on deeper social themes.
Mafia: Definitive Edition – Back to the Old School
In 2020, Mafia: Definitive Edition was released, which was a remake of the first part – it was this that revived interest in the series and paved the way for a new project.
Mafia: The Old Country – What We Know So Far?
As you already know Mafia: The Old Country will be a prequel to the series, which will take us to 1920s Sicily, the birthplace of the mafia – where it all began.
Development is underway on Unreal Engine 5, which promises the highest graphic quality. New screenshots show the beautiful environment: an old village, churches, rocky roads and underground island cellars – everything is worked out in detail.

- Original costumes, old cars and historical architecture
- Amazing physics of light – especially the candle or lighting effect in the caves
One screen even shows a character similar to a young Don Salieri, which could be a big hint

The genre of the game is not changing – it will still be a third-person action adventure, focused on the story. It is likely that the series will return to its roots – less sandbox elements and more historical, emotional and cinematic experience.
It is likely that there will be stealth missions, snipers, hand-to-hand combat and car driving components, as in the old Mafia.

Mafia: The Old Country is set to release August 8, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
